Every vehicle Manufactured, Imported or Built in South Africa for the purpose of selling must comply with the relevant specification and / or regulations before being offered for sale. Legislation states that the company must also be registered with the relevant Provincial Department of Transport as a MIB (manufacturer, importer or builder). |

The vehicle models include: M1 – passenger vehicles of less than 8 passengers plus the driver M2 – passenger vehicles of more than 8 passengers plus the driver and less than 5t maximum weight M3 – passenger vehicles of more than 8 passengers plus the driver and more than 5t maximum weight N1 – goods vehicles with a maximum weight of less than 3,5t N2 – goods vehicles with a maximum weight of more than 3,5t but less than 12t N3 – goods vehicles with a maximum weight of more than 12t O1 – trailers with a single axle and a maximum weight of less than ,75t O2 – trailers with a maximum weight of more than ,75t but less than 3,5t O3 – trailers with a maximum weight of more than 3,5t but less than 10t O4 – trailers with a maximum weight of more than 10t
